This Kit Includes:
Inverter/Charger - Victron Multiplus 12/3000VA
At the heart of this system lies one of the industries most reliable Inverter/Chargers. The Multiplus 12/3000VA Inverter/Charger "fits the bill" for most vans and truck campers. Offering reliable and robust power when and where its needed. The Multiplus 12/3000VA Inverter/Charger offers enough power to charge your e-bike, power your rooftop air conditioner, or even power your hot water heater/induction cooktops. This Inverter/Charger has been and will continue to be a Bend Battery favorite!
Inverter/Charger Dedicated Master ON/OFF Switch
Lots of systems we see come through our doors have severely under rated switches. Blue Sea Systems has been making the marine industries highest quality components for many years. We wont use or recommend anything else. In our systems, we always recommend having a dedicated physical switch for your Inverter/Charger. This is the most reliable way to mechanically cut ALL 12V power from the unit. This Blue Sea Systems HD ON/OFF switch has the ampacity rating to handle anything that the Multiplus 12/3000VA can throw its way. And is built to last.
Solar Panels - Rich Solar Mega 200W x 3
With many years of working with many different solar panel manufacturers, we have seen and worked with most. We have found Rich Solar to be one of the nations premier solar panel manufacturers. From build quality, to reliability, efficiency, price per watt, and customer service that you just cant beat. These 200W Mega Solar Panels from Rich Solar offer the perfect balance! The higher VOC allows for better low light performance and longer solar capture periods. The form factor allows for easier installation on van and camper rooftops. The robust build lends its hand in ensuring premium solar production for many years to come.
Solar Charge Controller - Victron Energy SmartSolar MPPT 100/50
Victron Energy continues to pave the way to excellence when it comes to their solar charge controllers. MPPT algorithms can build confidence in knowing that you are always getting the most efficiency out of your panels in any situation. A solar charger gathers energy from your solar panels, and stores it in your batteries. Using the latest, fastest technology, SmartSolar maximizes this energy-harvest, driving it intelligently to achieve full charge in the shortest possible time. This unit helps to maintain battery health, extending its life. The SmartSolar charge controller will even recharge a severely depleted battery. It can operate with a battery voltage as low as 0 Volts, provided the cells are not permanently sulphated or otherwise damaged.
Battery Monitor - Victron Energy SmartShunt 500A
Think of the SmartShunt as the "gas gauge" of your electrical system. The Victron Energy SmartShunt is an all-in-one battery monitor, only without a display. The Cerbo GX+Touch 50 as well as your phone acts as the display. The SmartShunt connects via Bluetooth to the VictronConnect app on your phone (or tablet) and you can conveniently read out all monitored battery parameters, like state of charge, time to go, historical information and much more.
Alternatively the SmartShunt can be connected to the Cerbo GX device and monitored via the Victron Energy Touch 50 screen. Connection to the SmartShunt is made via a VE.Direct cable.
DC-DC Charging - Victron Orion XS 50A
Otherwise known as alternator charging. The Orion XS DC-DC Charger is in a league of its own. Engineered from the ground up, the Orion XS redefines adaptive DC-DC charging. For use in dual battery systems charged with or without an (intelligent) alternator. This device not only ensures top-tier performance but also guarantees the safety of your system, and the health of your alternator, starting batteries, and house batteries.
Stay in charge with configurable input and output currents (program them to the amp), and rest assured that your Orion XS will run at full capacity up to 40°C. The innovative aluminum circuit board cooling technology delivers an astonishing 98% efficiency without the need for fans.
As an integral part of your Victron system, the Orion XS offers full (remote) monitoring and control capabilities, giving you complete command of your device and system.
System Monitoring
If you are a "full-timer", you know the importance of keeping track of your power. The Victron Energy Cerbo GX + Touch 50 combo is the industry leading solution! The Cerbo GX allows you to monitor each and every component (even remotely via the VRM). The Victron Energy Touch 50 is a interior mounted touchscreen that displays all of this information in a very simple to monitor/control fashion. From one screen you can check in on your batteries, solar production, power usage, and charging potentials.
Another important factor that comes into plan when full timing is temperatures. This kit comes with 4 Ruuvi tags to help you monitor any temperature you deem important. That means interior (for the pet owners), exterior, battery, fridge/freezer, etc. These temps get relayed via bluetooth to your Cerbo GX where you can either a) monitor them from the touchscreen or b) monitor them from anywhere in the world utilizing the VRM.
12V Distribution
This kit comes with everything you need to organize and protect your 12V electrical system. This all starts with the Victron Energy Lynx Distributor. The Lynx Distributor is circuit protection integrated dual 1000A busbar. The Lynx allows you to fuse each major 12V charge or load source in an easy, convenient, and organized fashion. For smaller 12V loads and charge sources, we have included a Blue Sea Systems 12 position 12V distribution hub. This hub is an easy way to integrate lighting, pumps, fans, and all of your common 12V needs. Each position is protected by an ATC (auto style) fuse. We have also included a Master ON/OFF switch for this hub for ease of control and mechanical disconnect.
Circuit Protection
Each component in this design has its own parameters of protection. However, we need to ensure that all of our cables, load, and charge sources are independently protected via fuse or circuit breaker. Safety is number one!
That is why you will see that we have included a Lynx Distributor (for critical loads and charge sources) and a Blue Sea Systems 12 position 12V distribution (for non critical loads and charge sources). We have also included a few Blue Sea Systems 285 Series resettable breakers for: the input and output of the Orion XS, the output of the SmartSolar MPPT 100/50. and the input of the Blue Sea 12V distribution hub.
Solar Installation Accessories
When installing your new solar system, you are going to need a few accompanying parts and pieces. In this kit you will recieve a Scanstrut Dual Cable Roof Entry Port (for a watertight cable pass through your roof), Rich Solar Z-Brackets (for mounting your solar to your roof), and Dicor Lap Sealant (for ensuring a watertight installation of your panels and Scanstrut). A pair of MC4 Connectors have been included as well to ensure ease of solar wiring.

FAQs
What do I do with my Lithium batteries when the weather is cold?
Cold Weather Maintenance
- You can discharge (take energy out) of the batteries down to a battery core temperature of -4 degrees F.
- You can recharge lithium batteries when the core temp of the battery is 32 degrees F or warmer (41 degrees or warmer for Victron batteries. Victron is listed in C, this is 5 Degrees C)
- If your batteries have heaters, do not leave the heaters on all night unless you are plugged into shore power, as you will use unneeded energy.
- If your batteries have heaters, but there is no way to charge (not plugged into shore power, no generator available, solar panels are covered in snow), turn your heaters off.
- If you do not have heaters, your batteries MUST be warmer then 32 degrees F to charge (41 degrees for Victron).
- Some battery heater installations do not feature a switch for remote operation. If that is the case, your heaters will turn on and off automatically as temperatures demand. Please keep an eye on your battery state of charge.
- If you are not using your trailer / RV etc. for the winter, ensure your batteries are above 80% state of charge, and disconnect the master Negative cable from the batteries. If you have Battle Born heated batteries (BB12100H) disconnect the “heat enabled” wire from the small red button terminal located right beside the positive terminal.
- Many customers have main disconnect switches that will cut the power to the batteries, but you should take extra care that they are TRULY disconnected. Often RVs will still have a C02 sensor, backlit stereo, or some other emergency sensor that is bypassing this switch. If you are in doubt, simply disconnect the main positive and negative wires that supply your batteries. After the winter storage time, you should have plenty of charge in the batteries.
- With LiFePO4 batteries, we recommend disconnecting all potential power draws from the battery and letting them sit with a full charge, or at least a 50% charge minimum. On a full charge, LiFePO4 batteries have been proven to last at least a year in proper storage conditions with a 2–3% depletion each month. If left at a half charge, the batteries have the potential to not last as long in storage.
- Tests indicate that at 0 degrees Fahrenheit, with no insulation, the Battle Born internal heater is on about 30% of the time. With no external charging or loads, it gives approximately 185 hours (7 days) of heat capability before the battery goes into a low voltage disconnect.
- If the batteries are stored without a charge, their levels could dip below what the internal Battery Management System, or BMS, can protect over the winter season. If possible, we recommend storing them fully charged in an environment above freezing. Our team recommends not leaving a completely drained battery in that state for an extended amount of time, as it can damage the cells inside. Doing so will void the warranty!
- If you do find yourself with batteries that are too cold to charge, you have a couple of options:
- Bring the batteries into a warm space or park your vehicle indoors
- Run a space heater (use caution) inside your vehicle to warm the batteries up. DO NOT use power from the batteries ie. Your inverter, to power the heater. Run an extension cord from your house to the vehicle and plug the heater into your home.
- If your batteries are above 60% state of charge, and you can confirm there is no load on the batteries (verify though your shunted meter, you should see 0.0A / 0W load), you can safely leave your batteries for 90 days without worry.
- LEAVING A LITHIUM BATTERY IN A FULLY DISCHARGED STATE WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY!!!!
- When in doubt, remove your batteries and bring them into us to be fully charged and ready for storage. This will take 24-48 hours. TAKE PICTURES OF YOUR SYSTEM BEFORE DISCONNECTING ANY WIRING. We are not liable, nor can we assist with “I forgot where this wire goes”. That is your responsibility.
